When will we realize that long ball is a stupid tactic? The whole fucking world knows that teams with small players play possession football and short pass, yet that information sort of eluded Malaysia, funny eyh?
And the player wearing no. 12 jersey is shite! Plays in midfield but never ask for the ball, couldn’t hold possession, plays stupid passes, bad decision making. The defence as always were shit, easily beaten by shimmys and dummys. They don’t deserve anything, and we’re talking about Olympics? the only silver lining as always was our goalie, he saved us from humiliation.
Ong Kim Swee really needs to change something. We were too predictable, stupid midfield always switch to wings, instead of playing around before looking for the right time to switch to the wingers. Fuck I hate Malaysia’s Midfield!
November 23, 2011 - 11:26 pm
Marco, grab a jersey and try to play yourself…. And if u think other people playing shit after a week of stress and hardship in sea game.. Fuck yourself! Mr ong knows what he’s doing and he knows the player state of fitness… Talking shit… Shame of u marco!
November 23, 2011 - 11:35 pm
Which comes to my point, why stretch ourselves when we know we’re tired? why play long passes which will only stretch the players to run, and stretch their physical limit to battle those ball with fit and bigger Syrian players?
Sometimes criticism is needed as a reality check. You know what happened last time when we hail too much? WE LOST TO SINGAPORE!
We need consistency.
November 23, 2011 - 11:44 pm
I supposed you want the best for our team and country.. Pardon me for my harsh word…Yeah, me too… Lets see what mr ong will do for next game…. Im not saying thatim hailing them sky high but crticsm comes with sense and logic…At this moment i just felt that their strength and fitness is not coping yet…plus lack of rest resulting mishap in decision making…Anyway, i aggree with your comment above as to improve our player tactics… Bravo fellow malaysian..
November 23, 2011 - 11:44 pm
well… short passes used more mental and physical energy… did you watch the first half? what do you think about the first half short passes? good? not good enuf? i truely believe they are too exhausted to play any full time game as for now… 7 games in the last 17 days and just came back yesterday morning.. try go run 5 round in the stadium and then try run again the next day, see if you got fit leg to run again.. come on.. consistency check is not giving negative points… do u really think mr OKS will read your comment here? come on.. if u really care, go send them some letter.. as for here, its for the player… dont curse them.. Harimau is on the climb…

I second your opinion and your frustration. European trips like the Slovakian Camp are not going to help us in the Olympic campaign because of different playing styles that are suited more to big-sized and tall European players. Basically what I could observe during the SEA Games and the Syrian matches:
1) Msians sorely lack basic ball control skills in which Msian players tend to let go of the ball very easily.
2) No Msian player dared to bring the ball forward from the Msian base territory. The defence tend to kick the ball out to nowhere instead of controlling the ball properly and dribble forward from the defending area. Such a waste of possession.
3) The midfield is like a headless chicken. No guts to challenge for ball possession. No playmaker or leader to give the opponent goalpost a run for their money. I could see that the players even had no idea where to bring or pass the ball to.
4) As you just said, long-ball playing style, which is not suited for Msian players. The long ball tend to favour the bigger and taller Syrian players, as we can see where most of the possession lies.
5) Lazy attitude. Msian players tend to give up easily on lost possession. I bet the coach didn’t put in much effort to train the players’ pace and speed as well as stamina, which are vital in winning back the ball possession. I suggest military-style training at least for a month (eg run 20 rounds in the field in 15 mins everyday). Msian players are just too long in their comfort zones.
Anyway, Khairul Fahmi was superb. But he was daunted by the weak defence, which forced him to work double hard to compensate what the defence lacked.
Other than that, I suggest another boot camp in Brazil or Argentina instead of European countries. Besides the similar weather, the playing style also suits Msian players much better. And I can bravely say that any street footballer there can bring our national team players to shame.

November 23, 2011 - 11:44 pm
Spot on Marco. But dont be too harsh on them. The tired legs are there as they dont have enough time to recover from indonesia games. The no. 12 players,Nazmi is just 17 y.o boys and he definitely lacks experience to control the game against organized syrian team..so long Malaysia
November 23, 2011 - 11:48 pm
OKS,lepas ni tolong mantapkan lagik corak passing team kita.main short pass, hold bola dulu.Player kita nampak gopoh nak menyerang, hantar bola tinggi pon x kemana..second half midfield kita mcm lost semacam

In fact nowadays, many european teams switch to posession football like Germany for example. They have big physical players but their style of football is possession football with the 4-2-3-1 formation.
If you watch todays game, Fakri Shaarani drop back, so our formation was more of a 4-4-1-1, but so the lone striker up front, was isolated for the whole game, and we kept giving long balls instead of giving it to his feet, where he can control it, and wait for support from midfield which by the way was non-existent.
I may went over the top with my comments earlier and sorry for that, but I genuinely think our midfield esp centre midfield and our centre backs were too woeful.
November 24, 2011 - 1:04 am
Agreed with ur points. Our lone striker was too isolated and got no support whatsover from the midfield.Arasu and fakri even have to come so deep in search for the ball.We certainly lack a creative midfield to link up the striker and defender.

keselurahannya malaysia boleh main bola tapi kena cari fakri lain fakri yang boleh buat gol…player lain not 2 bad…

A lot sounded like a football genius. Have you ever watch Harimau Muda play? How deep is your knowledge of Malaysian Football? Nowadays, fans are too obsessed with the overated English League. How many English Player do this league produce every year? How good are they? Most of the comments i read are ridiculously irrational. Okay, minus the fatigue. A good first half display, except for the no 9, Fakri who currently have a dip in his form, but a hardworking fella. If this is a interschool game, i would say, this is normal. If you watch too many Premier League on TV, you must be comparing it with the Boxing day football. Have you guys tried playing football in the UK or in the cold? If not, it is not tiring. Compared to our weather, it is totally different. If you dont believe it you can try. But my point is, yes they are footballer. but remember they are human. syria did not want to tolerate with the date change request. so we have to go ahead with this game. we lost Izzaq, Hazwan, Irfan, Gary, Wan Zaharul, Fadhli…almost the main players are not there. Amer Saidin may be the cause of that first goal, but as this is his first start for the team, it was a good display. Muslim might have caused the second goal, but can you see all are stretching their legs? we do not have sufficient cover at the back for this type of level. Zubir & Mahali have been overstretched the whole game.
honestly, if you write with your brain, you will think, why OKS field this team. Yes, a valuable 1 point. we had the chance to score, but our front line is unreliable. Give them a break, I believe in OKS, he will field his best team this Sunday if we have the full squad at our disposal. Bahrain currently is leveled, and we still have chance to get into this. Give some faith not just criticizing. If you think you can run 3 day straight, go then, represent Malaysia using the right channel.

i think no 12 is the best player to night…so mature when making passes…at least compared to guru.
November 24, 2011 - 3:38 am
TBH, even with our “best” players that Mr. Sarcastic mentioned that were absent today, the tactics and the style of play is still the same and ineffective, I watched thru the tournament, the only game where we really controlled was against Cambodia, other games, we didn’t really control the game and play fluent football but we were more clinical so we won, esp the group game against Indonesia, they control the game and had more chances.
We may got away playing like that against ASEAN teams, but if we want to take it to the next level, something has to change, I think we need to have more aggression, we don’t have a ball winner in our squad, we don’t have a box to box midfielder in our squad, we are lacking the crisp passage of play.
Many up here making cliche comments like “if u think are good enough why don’t you play?” come on for god’s sake, get a life! it’s because the fans are not good enough for the jersey that they want the best for those who can wear the jersey, they want the players to respect the jersey and give everything they got, honestly today, did you people think the players gave everything left in their tanks? I don’t think so, easily bundled of the ball, no desire to get the ball back after losing it, wasting posession, and it is all made worse with the wrong set of tactics.
Let’s just wish we can do better against Bahrain, Cheers.

short pass, not a hard-to-grab-long-speedy ball. Ana, a Latin training camp, not European. Thats make a good poid

2nd half performance can be forgiven due to fatigue, half-fit players (coming back from injuries), etc. Those are valid reasons & not mere excuses. Now, let us look at the 1st half of the game. Even with a depleted squad, Malaysia went toe-to-toe againts the Syrian. I was expecting Syria to run us over but no, they were having difficulties to break our defence & had to resort to long shots. Note that in central midfield, there’s no baddrol bakhtiar and irfan fazail to run things this time around. Nazmi was alone in central midfield, did well in the 1st half with some defence splitting passes. We have to remember that he’s still 17. And we expect him to command the midfield on his own? Guru’s below par game did not help either. The Syrians were fond of going down everytime we fought for the ball. What a bunch of faggots. I hope the US attack them next. Judging from 1st half performance, I believe we can beat this sissy Syrian team with our squad at full strength and well rested.
