South Korea 2-0 Greece [VIDEO]

South Korea opened the World Cup like it wanted to repeat its 2002 run to the semifinals. Greece looked like it was stuck in 1994.

Lee Jung-soo and Park Ji-sung each scored and South Korea won 2-0 over lackluster Greece in Saturday’s first Group B match.

Otto Rehhagel’s side were behind after seven minutes when Lee Jung-soo volleyed in from close range and the Koreans’ near-unremitting pressure was rewarded again in the second half when Manchester United’s Park Ji-sung capitalised on a mistake by the centre-half Loukas Vyntra to cap a man-of-the-match performance with the second goal.

One side fizzed the ball around, attacking with pace and purpose. The other lumped the ball forward with neither the wit nor gumption to get behind the opposition defence on a single occasion. Greece were out-thought, outfought and, ultimately, outclassed.
