Final Preview: Robben cannot be our only focus - Sneijder

Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has warned his team-mates against assuming Bayern Munich’s attacking threat starts and ends with flying winger Arjen Robben.

Robben has played a key role in helping Bayern to the verge of an historic treble, scoring 20 goals in his last 24 matches, including crucial Champions League goals against Fiorentina, Manchester United and Lyon.

With fellow winger Franck Ribery unavailable due to suspension, much responsibility will rest on Robben’s shoulders in Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter, but Sneijder insists his fellow Dutchman is not the only danger.

“We all know Robben is a good player and that he is an important player for Bayern but he is not the only one, we have to take care of everyone and we can’t just focus on Robben,” Sneijder said. “I expect a great final, it will be a big party.

“They are two strong teams. We have a good team, we showed this throughout the Champions League and it’s the same for Bayern Munich. “It will be a tough game from both sides and we will see at the end who is the winner.”

Sneijder and Robben were team-mates at Real Madrid last season before going their separate ways, and they will be both be returning to the Bernabeu this weekend.

Real dispensed with the Dutch duo’s services last summer after spending €250 million on new talent, but were once again knocked out at the last 16 stage, while ]Sneijder and Robben will both experience the showpiece with their new clubs.

However, while he may not have left Madrid on the best of terms, Sneijder insists that is not something he has been mulling over this week.

“I’m not thinking about these kind of things. I only want to say that I’m happy to be back here and see some people again that I haven’t seen for a year, so that’s nice. It will be just a game and for me it isn’t anything special to be be back here.”
