SYLVAIN DISTIN

The Everton defender Sylvain Distin has signed a new one-year contract to keep him at the club next season. The centre-back’s existing deal had expired but he was determined to remain at Goodison Park and a new agreement was not long in being finalised.

“Sylvain Distin has signed a new one-year contract with Everton which will keep him at Goodison Park for the 2012-13 season,” said a statement on Everton’s website.

“I don’t need any boost to go into next season. I love my job and I know how lucky I am to do this kind of job,” said Distin. “I want to carry on as long as I can. No matter what happens, you can be sure I’ll be there the next day. It’s a good squad here with a great atmosphere. I feel so comfortable with the lads, so it’s a pleasure.”

Distin has made 115 appearances for Everton since joining from Portsmouth almost three years ago.
