Profile

SCOTT WOOTTON

Scott Wootton is a strong and cultured central defender who first broke into the U18s side as a schoolboy at the back end of the 2006/07 campaign.

A former Liverpool youth player, Wootton made the switch in 2007 and has impressed at United ever since.

After being a regular for the Reserves and shortlisted for that group’s Player of the Year award, he headed off to Peterborough on a season-long loan for the 2011/2012 term.

Although injury curtailed his progress with Posh, he featured in defence and midfield for Darren Ferguson’s Championship outfit before returning to Old Trafford. Another temporary switch followed, to

Nottingham Forest, and helped the City Ground club stave off relegation and performed well.

The fact that he was often utilised at right-back for Forest highlighted his versatility and he played for United’s Reserves six times in all during the term - including in the Barclays Premier Reserves play-off against Aston Villa at Old Trafford when he helped his side keep a clean sheet before winning the penalty shoot-out.
